Key points

  • The park remains open outside the restricted areas.
  • Restrictions expand on 11 October; both phases run through 18 October.

A visit to Bangkok’s Benjakitti Park is still possible during the preparations for the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings, but access depends on which area you intend to use. A BMA park notice, confirmed in Thai PBS reporting on 7 October, describes partial closures rather than a shutdown of the whole park. The cover blends the real photograph with an editorial illustration by report.red.

Two dates to check before setting out

The orange zone covers Parking Lot B and the Benjakitti Forest Park museum building. Those areas are closed from 5 through 18 October 2026.

A wider red-zone restriction applies from 11 through 18 October. It includes part of Parking Lot A, Benjakitti Water Park and the forest park’s Pond 4 area, alongside the already restricted Parking Lot B and museum building.

The notice asks visitors to use public transport and avoid the marked zones. Check the park’s current announcements before travelling: the published plan allows for further access changes, and an open park does not mean every route or facility is available.

Park access and meeting access are different

The meetings run from 12 to 18 October at the neighboring Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, according to the World Bank’s participant guide. The venue connects directly to the MRT Blue Line at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre station.

Meeting attendance requires registration and a badge; ordinary park access does not provide entry to the meeting campus. The guide also warns participants to allow extra time for security and travel. Follow the park’s posted boundaries rather than treating the historic cover photograph as a map of the closures.
